Why chemosensitivity testing? Modern oncology knows a multitude of principially active chemotherapeutics and agent combinations. However, even today, the choice of therapy in most cases is still exclusively based on empirical criteria, i.e. without being able to assess the individual likelihood of response of the affected patient. Therefore, in the individual case, it initially remains unclear if therapy-related adverse effects are really justified by the success of the therapy. This does not have to be the case. After almost 50 years of research there are lab methods available today to safely and reproducibly assess the individual sensitivity of tumors towards cytostatic drugs. This can be achieved with high accuracy prior to the start of a therapy. The best examined and best validated method is the ATP tumor chemosensitivity assay (ATP-TCA) used by our company. |
