What is important? The ATP-TCA is suited for virtually all tumors of organs, skin and lymph nodes. This is even true for cases in which the origin of the primary tumor is unknown. Solid as well as liquid samples can be analyzed. The amount of material needed for the analysis depends on the individually differing cell density and quality. In many cases core biopsies (we recommend the collection of at least three biopsy cylinders per tumor) can already be tested successfully. Tumor biopsy material of 0.125-0.25 cm3 or malignant effusions of 50 ml usually contain a sufficient number of viable cells. Important are absolutely sterile conditions during sampling and transport. The material should be transported slightly cooled, but never be stored on ice. Solid tumor tissue should be covered with a sufficient amount of sterile isotonic infusion solution (i.e. phys. NaCl solution), we will gladly provide a transport medium if requested. Liquid samples have to be anti-coagulated with ca. 10 IU/ml sodium heparin. The time of transport should not exceed 24 h. Who will cover the costs? The ATP-TCA is billed as self-pay according to the Gebuehrenordnung fuer Aerzte(GoA). The costs for this test are usually covered by private health insurance providers. To place an order, it is therefore required to provide a name and billing address along with the personal information of the patient and the physicians address.
